PDA in Relationships

Let’s be real. Nobody really enjoys watching two couples engaging in a hot makeout session in public. It’s gross and makes you wonder why they just couldn’t get a room. While those of us who aren’t fondling our partners in public find this utterly repulsive, those of us who are, see no problem with it whatsoever. Can you blame them?

First off, when it comes to PDA, we have to understand that there are varying degrees to it. There are those who engage in a simple peck on the cheek while walking in the park or a slight grab of the waist. Then there’s those who turn there evening out into a soft-core porno. Naturally, people are going to gravitate towards what they are comfortable with and everything obviously, isn’t for everybody. Some people are fine with having bedroom previews in public and others are more conservative. Neither choice is wrong. There just different.

Although we understand the differences in how people engage in PDA, understanding why people do and don’t want to engage in PDA is also important. If you’re in a relationship where you and your partner are on the same page about showing affection in public, there’s nothing to worry about. However, if you’re really into PDA in a relationship and your partner isn’t, it’s very possible feelings are going to get hurt.

The reality is, there are people out there who really don’t like PDA. It’s not because they don’t like you or they want to keep your relationship a secret so they can present themselves as single in public. They simply don’t want all their business out in the streets. The same goes for a person who wants PDA in their relationship. They don’t want it so they can show the world you belong to them or that you’re their sexual property only to be used when they want to. All they want to do is show you they care and to them, what better way to show you than expressing your feelings in a physical way to the world every chance they get?

As I said before, PDA isn’t a bad thing. It’s simply a preference. Some people are for it and other people aren’t. All you can worry about is what your comfortable with and what makes you happy. Although, a little PDA never hurt nobody.
